Changing the ISP username and password in a ST510v4 / ST530 Firmware Release - R4.0 / R4.2 Overview To allow access to your ISP’s network the username and password inside a SpeedTouch router must equal the username and password setup within your ISP’s network. If they become misaligned, i.e. you username or password within the router does not match the username and password within the network, an authentication issue is encountered. Problem The @ LED on your router will have transitioned from solid amber to a flashing amber and green. The flashing amber and green @ LED shows the router cannot authenticate and there is most likely a mismatch between your routers username and password, and what is set in your ISP’s network. Solutions When an authentication error occurs, with regard to your username and password, it can be changed with the SpeedTouch routers by following these steps: 1. Browse in the router on the 10.0.0.138 IP address (unless this has been changed) 2. You may be
asked to enter a username and password (see the screenshot below) If
you do not know this security password (which is user-set when the
installation CDROM is run) you will need to
Hardware reset the router and
reconfigure it using one of the following options. Otherwise enter the Security username and password, and continue to the next step.
3. Click on ‘Connections’ or ‘Connect’ in the older firmware
4. If the details need to be changed, click ‘Disconnect’ below the password.
5. Correct the details and then click on ‘Connect’ below the password
6. Ensure the ‘Link’ and ‘State’ show ‘Connected’ and ‘Up’ respectively. If not there is a problem with this User ID.
7. Click ‘Save All’ on the left above the ‘Basic’ menu.
You should have 3 green lights on the router and be able to surf the internet. |
