Changing the IP address of a ST510v
4 / ST530

Firmware Release R4.3

If you require to setup the SpeedTouch 510v4 Router on to an existing network that requires a specific address range besides that of 192.168.1.64-192.168.1.253, you will need to change the IP address of the router and the IP address range which it issues.

Instructions on how to change the IP address of the router can be downloaded in word document format by clicking here, otherwise the instructions in HTML follow:

These instructions are for the software release 4.3 and are based around achieving a target IP address range of 10.0.0.1 – 10.0.0.254, with the router having the IP address of 10.0.0.138.

Note:  As it is only possible to delete DHCP pools and IP addresses that are not in use, we recommend that you have only 1 computer that is plugged into the router, or powered on, while following this guide.

Instructions:

1. Browse into the router with the standard 192.168.1.254 address.

2. Clink 'Disconnect' to disconnect the internet service.

3. Click 'Home Network' then 'Interfaces'

4. Click 'Local Network'

5. Click 'Configure'

6. Under 'DHCP Pools' > Click 'Add'

7. Fill out the details as below:

  • Start Address: 10.0.0.1
  • End Address: 10.0.0.254
  • Subnet mask: 255.0.0.0
  • Server: 10.0.0.138
  • Gateway: 10.0.0.138
  • Primary DNS: 10.0.0.138

8. Click on 'Home Network' then 'Devices'

9. Click 'Configure'

10. You now need to delete any devices that have a 192.168.1.x address.  If you have a lot of these, it may be quicker to run the 'hostmgr flush' CLI command from a Telnet session .

11. Click 'Interfaces'.

12. Click 'Local Network'

13. Click 'Configure'

14. Click ‘delete’ assocated with LAN_private.  If you do not have the Delete button, you did not delete all the active devices.  Or try ‘hostmgr flush’ from a telnet session.

15. Open you 'Local Area Connection Status'.  Select the 'support' tab and click 'repair'

16. You should now have a new IP address on the 10.0.0.x range.

17. Browse into the router under the new 10.0.0.138 address. And 'Home network' then 'Interfaces'

18. Click no 'Local Network'

19. Click 'Configure'

20. Next to the old 192.168.1.254 IP Address, click Delete.  If ‘Delete’ is not there, you have a computer that is still using the 192.168.1.254 address.

21. Click 'Broadband Connection'

22. Click 'Connect'

All you computers will now be issued IP addresses under the address range you specified.  PC’s that are currently on should either be restarted or you can manually release and renew their IP addresses.
